Title: Resource Consultant

 

Qualifications:

  1. Experience with students with special needs, birth - 21 year.
  2. Understanding of Assistive Technology services as it applies to all ages.
  3. Willingness to work as a team member to identify, secure, train and oversee the use of assistive technology tool(s) to assist a student to be an independent learner or an adult to live independently.
  4. Willingness to be a trainer of Assistive Technology tools and implementation.
  5. Maintain a valid Kansas driver’s license.
  6. Ability to lift as required by the job.

 

Certificate/License Requirement:

  Current Kansas State License in Special Education or related service

Executive Director -NKESC

Director of Special Education and/or Designed - NKESC

ATK Management Team - Assistive Technology for Kansans

 

Job Goal/Summary:

To provide assistive technology services to referred children/students/adults who may benefit from the use of assistive technology to increase, maintain and /or improve their functional capabilities. To manage an assistive technology device loan and lease program with current equipment. To offer training and support to multidisciplinary members on assisted technology devices and services. Coordinate services with other resources in the state.

 

Performance Responsibilities:

  1. Deliver AT services to school staff and administrators to provide comprehensive special education services to students.
  2. Provide training on various AT topics and ATK services to educators, families, support personal or public on the use and maintenance of AT devices.
  3. Attend training sessions, conferences, webinars, and ATK meetings.
  4. Keep abreast of changing technologies as it applies to serve individuals with disabilities or elderly.
  5. Maintain a library of current AT tools for loan and inventory in a database.
  6. Maintain database of services, loans, and lease items to districts and individuals.
  7. Research and keep informed of funding options to secure AT tools for schools, families, adults and/or elderly
  8. Collaborate with local, state and national loan and funding resources to assist individuals with trial and securing AT devices.
  9. Collaborate, provide and document services as outlined by grants and contracts with the Assistive Technology for Kansans Project while serving the birth through life population. 
  10. Collaborate with Western KS ATK Coordinator on providing services as outlined in the Assistive Technology for Kansans grant.
