CERTIFICATE/LICENSE REQUIREMENTS:
Preferred credential: Advanced degree in Early Childhood Education.
Required: Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or equivalent coursework in early childhood education with early education teaching experience.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Willingness to work as a team member that communicates effectively with students, teachers, parents and administrators individually and in a group.
•Must be sensitive to and willing to work in addressing the needs of children and families of various cultures and socioeconomic backgrounds.
•Ability to maintain confidentiality.
•Must have a valid Kansas driver's license.

Head Start Director and Assistant Director
NKESC Executive Director

 

JOB GOAL:
The NKESC Head Start/EHS Education/Disabilities Coordinator supports teaching staff by planning for and implementing a coordinated approach that ensures the full and effective participation of all children and families. This approach will lead to children who are successful learners.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Work collaboratively with program staff, early interventionists and special education partners to provide inclusive services for all children.
•Strengthen services to children with disabilities and their families.
•Analyze program, classroom and individual data to determine needs at each level.
•Use the CLASS tool to evaluate practices in individual classrooms and provide support to staff.
•Monitor curriculum fidelity, classroom schedules, and provide information about best practices to teaching staff.
•Participate in trainings and meetings.
• Develop and maintain communication between the family and the Head Start/EHS teaching team.
• Promote family engagement in all facets of the Head Start program.
•Enter data into the databases in a timely manner to facilitate communication.
•Protect confidentiality of all family information.
•Create community partnerships that facilitate accessibility to services for families being served.
•Advocate for services needed in a community.
•Assist families with transitional activities into Head Start and from Head Start to another program.
•Participate in staff meetings and Family and Child Together events.
•Collaborate with teachers, paras and other classroom staff to provide seamless services to assist children and families.
•Consult with parents, teachers and other school personnel to determine causes of problems and provide options for assistance.
•Participate in activities most likely to lead to professional growth.
•Problem-solve with teaching teams to establish alternative strategies for children needing additional support.
•Perform any other duties as directed by NKESC administration.
