QUALIFICATIONS:
- Possesses the skills to manage Gifted programs and students in a variety of settings.
- Ability to communicate effectively and gain the confidence of administrators, parents, students, and teachers individually and in groups.
- Possesses skills need to plan and conduct meetings, in-services, seminars, and workshops.
- Ability to maintain complete confidentiality and professional discretion.
- Initiative that will lead to continued program improvement and development.
- The willingness to work cooperatively as a team member with a variety of individuals and take directions from supervisors.
- Must have, or be able to obtain, and maintain a valid Kansas driver’s license.
- Must have and maintain a dependable means of transportation.
CERTIFICATE/LICENSE REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum of at least a Kansas teaching endorsement in an area of special education or the ability to obtain endorsement through a waiver.

JOB GOAL:
The development of curriculums which will enable all student(s) with exceptionalities/giftedness to take advantage of their learning strengths that they may have the opportunity to achieve their overall potential.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists with the identification of gifted students as a member of he multidisciplinary evaluation team.
- Coordinates, plans, and communicates student progress to parents, teachers, and administrators based on federal, state, and local guidelines.
- Collaborates with classroom teachers in designing, modifying, or selecting materials or instruction methods for use to support gifted students in the regular classroom.
- Consults with parents to obtain ongoing support of the students program and assist them in interacting effectively with their gifted child.
- Provides for ongoing screening of students for appropriate gifted services.
- Maintains and expends knowledge based through attendance in in-service and staff development activities.
- Maintain proper education license.
- Provide supervision for paraprofessional/clerical personnel as directed by administration.
- Maintain a log of activities as directed to meet local, state, and/or federal guidelines.
- Perform any other duties as directed.
PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
- Exhibit manual dexterity to dial a telephone, to enter data into a computer, to see and read a computer screen and printed materials with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal classroom levels, outdoors and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in normal classrooms, outdoors and on the telephone; and physical agility to reach overhead.
- Ability to move between schools, school buildings and multiple rooms.
- Ability to interact with students that meet’s their physical, emotional and psychological needs.
